1) Beanfield - Tides
Well now, here's a blast from the past (2006 to be exact - not that far back really). Just thought I'd stick up this old mix that I'd given out to a few friends back in the day...
Just a snapshot of what I was mixing a few years back that I thought might interest anyone who didn't get it first time around. A Plethora of SoundsOctober 23, 2009 07:27 AM PDT
1) Mistabishi - Heaven's sake
Episode 9 is contributed by Luke Barbour. An intriguing mix of drum and bass, dubstep, ambient, warped electronica, techno and house beats, this is Luke's first effort at creating a mix and reflects his varied and tasteful approach to electronic music. The mix was recorded in the confines of an intimate basement studio somewhere in deepest darkest Mancunia, Sterling effort dude. Lawrence Court - Non LocalitySeptember 28, 2009 12:11 PM PDT
1) Collabs - Eventide
Dark, menacing techno on this pounding mix from the undisputed authority on fist-pumping, foot-stomping and head-nodding. Designed to be played late and loud, this is not for the faint-hearted. You have been warned. CrunkhornageSeptember 22, 2009 03:11 PM PDT
1) Intro - Bobby Bird and The Famous Flames
50 odd minutes on why having horns in songs is the bee's knees.
A mix of soul, funk and white boy post punk by my brother. His band She Who Must Be Obeyed debuted recently and are, in my humble opinion, the bollocks. This view was shared by the few lucky enough to witness this classy display of electro-funk-punk-jazz-dancehall-rock-dub. See She Who Must Be Obeyed Live in Nottingham:
Go and see them, they will blow your tiny mind. www.myspace.com/shewhomustbeobeyeduk Techno (Archived to http://soundcloud.com/alexjackson83/sets)

1) Pacou - Minus (MLZ rmx)
Well, we're back after the summer hols with a round up of some of my favourite Techno from the last year or so, some a lot older than that. Quite a few tracks sent by Nick for this one - thanks for the suggestions, hope you like how they go together. So there you go - Techno, need I say more? Mixed by Simon Busby 1. Intro
We're back with some cosmic discoid balaeria courtesy of Glitterball resident Simon Busby. Si and his partner in crime run a quality night of funk and disco influenced party shenanigans. It's somewhere in London town, the links for details are below. If it's anything like this mix (and it probably is) it'll be a winner and should be heartily recommended to anyone with an ass to shake in the Capital. Glitterball III is on SEPTEMBER 19th http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=26802487460&ref=search http://www.glitterball-london.co.uk/ Paul Pritchard - Back (ARCHIVED http://soundcloud.com/alexjackson83)

1) Patrice Scott - Azteck (Yore)
Any of you guys who are members of the Berlin and Detroit- A Techno Alliance facebook group (and I know there's a few of you) should recognise the name above.
Quality tunes throughout, I reckon this will be on heavy rotation for a while yet! http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2386588302 Cheers Paul. Iain’s Elmtree Mixtape (ARCHIVED - EMAIL FOR DOWNLOAD)

1) Ladyhawke – Back of the Van (Fred Falke rmx)
So here’s episode 3… And it’s an eclectic blend from none other than DJ Iain Pearson. His first ever mix takes in a wide variety of music; from glittering disco-pop to indie songsmiths (great to see the SFA in there!) through to electro folk, soul, P-Funk, hip-hop and trip-hop….. phew!!!! What a journey, strap in and enjoy… Ferret Weazel (ARCHIVED - http://soundcloud.com/alexjackson83)

1) Sabo & Zeb - Jump (Beat Pharmacy Remix)
Well here we go with Episode 2.... This mix is contributed by a mysterious duo, known only as Ferret Weazel. Are they a Ferret and a Weasel DJ tag-team? A fight to the death between two of Nature's deadliest killing machines? Or some kind of genetic experiment gone hideously wrong? We may never know... Where Episode 1 could have been the afterparty, Ferret Weazel take you straight back to the club, continuing on the deep and housey tip of Episode 1 but taking things a bit tougher and sweatier. Think Sankey's back when it was good... Some excellent pumping beats and bass on this one. I don't think this is the last we'll be seeing of these two... Many thanks for being the first contributors to The Elmtree! Really looking forward to the other mixes that people have been promising. There is a SoundCloud Dropbox link on the right if anyone wants to send me a mix/playlist. Everything will be considered! Friday's House (ARCHIVED - http://soundcloud.com/alexjackson83)

1) Tribe – Livin’ in a New Day (C2 remix)
Hi, welcome to The Elm Tree. I aim to bring you some musical treats in the form of DJ mixes by myself and friends.
Hopefully, people will be keen to share thoughts and feelings on the mixes, as it’s nice to pipe up when you like something. At the least, the aim is to make some connections and share some music. So this first episode is mixed by myself and as the name suggests, features some pretty tasty house cuts; some brand new, some a bit older, some deep disco vibes, some soulful sounds, some bumpin’ basslines, some jackin’, some smackin’, some pork cracklin’... Get your Friday on! (Bloody hell that's cheesy. I'll do my best to improve the posts...) |
